Hello again. Time flies. This week was busy at work, and Thursday was Girl Scout night (cookie sales coming up). I felt good because I had pretty well stuck to the healthier eating plan, even if the scale wasn't reporting anything--yet.
Then I got a new digital scale on Saturday and weighed in.
Discouragement! I weighed the same that I weighed when I went to the doctor a few weeks ago. Very upsetting.
So this morning I weighed, and the scale said I lost about 3lbs. That's what I felt like I lost. So yay!
One of my loseit.com friends suggested that I weigh at the same time when I do weigh in so that the fluctuations don't make me crazy. Excellent idea!
The second week of January is National Letter Writing Week. So far, I mailed off two cards for relatives. Letter-writing is one of my resolutions. I was going to write last week, but never quite got going.
When I was a teenager, I wrote quite a bit to my grandma and friends, but I fell away from that as I got older. Then phone calls got cheap, and it was just easier to call people.
But there's nothing quite like the feeling of getting a letter or card in the mail. You open the mailbox and see something other than bills, and you feel a little excited that someone cared enough to send a personal note or card. You don't dread getting mail so much, since a letter might be in there.
So write your friends or family a letter. You never know how it might brighten someone's day. :)
It's MY life. Get busy living or get busy dying...

Talking about food and stuff
| Image via Wikipedia |
I find myself thinking about choosing better foods when I shop, and when I eat, I take smaller portions. I also chew my food more slowly and really try to enjoy what I'm eating, rather than scarfing down my food because I'm starving.
I've also been letting the daily grind roll off my back instead of wishing I was elsewhere, or wishing worse things because I am dissatisfied.
Even though this only day 3 of my New Year, New Me, I still feel motivated and ready to follow through.
I joined loseit.com, for accountability and motivation. I would like to get a Fitbit tracker, but I want to make sure I continue to stay motivated before spending that money. Maybe for my birthday in June. :)

Back
Yikes! It's been forever and a day since I posted. Not so good for keeping up with posting every day in 2008.
Let's see...
I had an emergency appendectomy on February 22. I thought I just had the flu, but decided to go to the ER and, 2 hours after I arrived, they said yeah, you have acute appendicitis. Glad to know it was an emergency! I had to take a whole week off work to recover, but thankfully, my gut healed quickly.
I learned to knit in the past few weeks, one of my long-term goals. I joined ravelry.com.
I've sold a few more things on Ebay, but I need to sell more. Like everyone else struggling with finances, gas and food prices are insane. I try not to think about it.
Knitting is better than therapy.
The winter has been long and long and long. I keep waiting for the weather to warm up, but other than seeing a few robins, the cold temperatures drag me down.
I am reading Anais Nin and feeling sorry for myself.

It's that time of year again
Nanowrimo time! Go join the hysteria.
I have not much to say as to where I've been for the past several months. Is it really October? And is it really MID-October?
My last remaining grandparent, my mother's mother, passed away on August 12. That required a quick trip to Florida and back.
My youngest sister got married on Sept. 29. Thank the gods that's done and over with.
DD has been sick all this week with some kind of flu.
Nano starts in three weeks and I have no clue what I'm going to write about yet.
I've started to sell things on Ebay, and have started collecting Himstedt dolls.

Update on Me
Where have I been these past several weeks, you ask?
Well, let's see, in late January, I decided to take the plunge and invest in a new car. It's a 2006 Ford Focus, in bright red. I love it, but I certainly didn't want yet another payment. However, my old car was dying. It was 15 years old, and I was expending more mental energy worrying about whether it would crap out on me or keep running.
In February, we were bombarded with snow around the 13th and 14th. Nothing to do but stay inside and cuddle up with a good book. --Except that one time, when the Boxer escaped from the yard, and I was running down the street in freezing ice and snow, wearing nothing more than sweatpants, a t-shirt, and houseslippers, screaming his name. Thankfully, he did not go very far, and I didn't have to run but half a block. I was totally in a panic. (DH still makes fun of me for panicking--but it was not a day fit for man or beast; that's what had me most upset.)
In March, I haven't been doing a whole lot of anything. I finally finished a wedding scrapbook for my cousin (his wedding was last September), after my mom said she heard through the grapevine that they were worried that it had gotten lost in the mail. I took DD to the local high school production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" last weekend. She really enjoyed it, and it was something to do on a Saturday afternoon.
Thankfully, Spring is here. Goodbye, long Winter!
